在经历了近两百年的研究历程后,世纪之初《四库全书总目》研究取得了新进展。然而对《总目》研究的历史和现状进行总结和反思,发现真正意义上的"总目学"尚未形成。《总目》研究具有分散性、自发性、偶然性的特点,这几方面都严重阻碍了《总目》研究的深化。《总目》以经、史、子、集四部涵盖中华文化的方方面面,而《总目》研究却缺少严格意义上的"专人"、"专才",即并无经学家专治"总目经学",史学家专治"总目史学",戏曲学家专治"总目戏曲"。《总目》研究尚未达到"精"、"专"、"高"的层次。未来《总目》研究方向如何,怎样让《总目》研究成为一门"显学",学者需从哪些方面努力,作何种规划,这也是当下亟需思考的问题。

The study on The Catalogue of Si Ku Quan Shu has made great progress since two hundred years ago.Despite the research of the history and status of The Catalogue,the true sense of the study of catalogue has not yet formed.The study of The Catalogue had the characteristics of dispersion,spontaneity and chance,which seriously hindered the deepening of relative research.The Catalogue,which has Jing,Shi,Zi,Ji four parts covers all aspects of Chinese culture.But the researchers are badly needed esp.Those experts of"personnel"and"know-how".Namely,there is no scribes specializing in catalogue of"Confucianism",no historians in "historiography",or dramatists in "drama".So the research on The Catalogue has not yet reached"essence","dedicated"and"high"level.The problems to be solved at present are as follows:What's the direction of The Catalogue research in the future?How to make it a"distinguished knowledge"and how should the scholars make efforts and plans in relative research?
