对成本粘性的研究有助于揭示企业的成本管理行为这一＂黑箱＂。本文检验了管理层的应计盈余管理行为是否以及如何对企业的成本粘性产生影响,研究结果表明：管理层的应计盈余管理行为会影响企业的成本粘性;管理层向上调节应计盈余的行为会弱化企业的成本粘性,而向下调节应计盈余的行为会强化企业的成本粘性;在2007年执行新会计准则之后,管理层的应计盈余管理行为对企业成本粘性的影响有所减弱。本文的研究意义在于发现管理层的应计盈余管理行为会导致企业的成本粘性,这意味着在进行成本粘性的相关研究时,学者们需要控制管理层的应计盈余管理行为对成本粘性的影响。

Research on cost stickiness can help reveal the ＂black box＂ of firm cost management. While prior studies document that selling, general, and administrative （SG＆A） costs are sticky, in the sense that when activity levels change by the same amount, costs increase more when activity rises than decrease when activity falls, this phenomenon could be induced by both real resources adjustment decisions, and by accrual-based earnings management. In the latter case, the finding of cost stickiness can not reveal firm cost management. Under poor investor protection and weak corporate governance, the problem of cost stickiness induced by accrual-based earnings management may be more serious in China. In this article, using the shock of new accounting standards enforcement of China in 2007, we examine whether and how managers＇ incentive in engaging in accrual-based earnings management affects firm cost stickiness, as new accounting standards enforcement affects managers＇ incentive in engaging in accrual-based earnings management. Our results show that upward accrual-based earnings management weakens firm cost stickiness, while downward accrual-based earnings management strengthens firm cost stickiness. After the enforcement of new accounting standards in 2007, the effect of accrual-based earnings management on cost stickiness becomes weaker. Our paper has the following contributions： Firstly, it documents that accrual-based earnings management can also lead to firm cost sticki- ness, which implicates that we should control the effect of accrual-based earnings management on cost stickiness in the future studies. Secondly, compared to Chen et al （2012）, which documents that downward accrual-based earnings management could lead to overvaluation of cost stickiness, our paper indicates that upward accrual-based earnings management could lead to undervaluation of cost stickiness. Lastly, compared to Dierynck and Renders （2012） and Kama and Weiss （2013）, which document that real earnings management induces cost stickiness, our paper not only indicates that accrual-based earnings management also leads to cost stickiness, but also enriches the inter-discipline research between management accounting and financial accounting.
