大冶市金牛镇历史悠久,以鄂王城为中心的周边地带,保存着丰富的古代文化遗存。2013年12月以来,为编制鄂王城址及周边古遗存保护规划提供文物资料依据,在方圆30平方公里范围内调查了一批重要的遗址,其中香炉山遗址不仅面积大、保存好,而且文化内涵与冶炼遗物十分丰富,显现新石器时代晚期到商周时期鄂东南浓郁地方文化及多样的冶炼技术,这对研究该区域古代文化和矿冶文明史提供了重要资料。

Jinniu Town of Daye City had been occupied throughout history, and the earliest was the King E＇s urban Site dated Zhou dynasty. Due to their extensive occupation, abundant cultural relics were preserved. Since December 2013, in order to compile a protection guide for the site and surrounding sites, a number of important areas encompassing 30 square kilometers were carefully investigated. From the survey the Censer Mountain Site occupied a large region of the study area and the presence very rich smelting remains dated from late Neolithic period to the Zhou dynasty were uncovered. Indicating a strong local culture and a diverse smelting technology in southeastern China, providing important data to the study of ancient mining and metallurgy culture and history.
