文本提出要重视曲什曼遗址的复杂性:它既非单纯的遗址,亦非单纯的墓地;它的一些明显的仪式性建构的意义和内容,及相关联的对尸体的处理方式、特种的随葬品及与宗教信仰、习俗等关联的丧葬行为的遗迹,都等待细致入微的阐释。从宗教信仰的发展史上看,在流传新疆的古代宗教信仰中,拜火教是比较古老的一种宗教;它的流传,与操东伊朗语支语言在内的一些部族、部落在天山-帕米尔高原地带的迁徙有关。不过,早于拜火教被创立之前,从史前考古发现可知,一种通常被称作"原始宗教"的古老信仰--巫术和它的体系化的信仰巫教或古萨满教,根源于旧石器时代的自然崇拜的传统,在各古代文明中,已经广泛地流传了。在新疆各地的史前考古发现中,也有众多的巫术和巫教信仰的证据。在新疆发现早期拜火教考古遗存的意义在于:早于佛教传入之前,古代新疆地区即已形成多样化宗教信仰并进而形成了多元文化的基础。这一局面与漫长历史进程中的部族-民族人口流动和丝绸之路商贸活动,是无法分开的。多元文化也为新疆古代各族居民带来了福祉和幸运。

We'll stress the complexity of the Qu Shiman Remains: neither simple remains nor simple graveyard; itsimplication and content of some obvious ritual construction, related corpse treatment, special burial objects and religionsbelief, ritual related to burial service are yet to be expounded delicately. Judging from the history of religious-beliefdevelopment, Zoroastrianism of ancient religious faiths circulated in Xirljiang was more ancient a religion; its circulation wasrelated to migration made by some tribes and clans who spoke Iranian language in the Tianshan-Panlir Plateau. Nevertheless,before Zoroastrianism was founded, we learned from pre-history archaeological discovery that a sort of ancient faith commonlyknown as "primeval religion" witchcraft and its systematic faith in sorcery or ancient shamanism are rooted in the traditionof nature worship during the Paleolithic Age. Of pre-history archaeological findings around Xinjiang, there exist plenty ofevidences for sorcery and witch craft. The archaeological remains of earlier Zoroastrianism discovered in Xinjiang implies thatprior to Buddhism's introduction, ancient Xinjiang had come into being diversified forms of religious faith as a foundation fordiversified culture. Such a situation is inseparable from the migration of clans and ethnic population and Silk-Road trade andcommercial activities in the long course of history. Diversified culture brought ancient residents in ethnic groups bliss andwell-being.
