借形赋义即所谓的＂旧瓶装新酒＂,是当代汉语最为独特的语义扩张模式,它可以分为修辞性和非修辞性两种,前者包括谐音、比喻、别解以及借代、婉曲和托形;后者包括借贷、简缩以及变用。借形赋义现象反映了当代人丰富多样的语言心理,主要有＂用熟＂心理、求变心理、类推心理和游戏心理;由此造成新旧语义之间的同音关系和多义关系。从词汇发展的角度看借形赋义,它实际上已经成为当代汉语词汇发展的一个重要途径,为当代汉语词汇注入了新的内容,也为当代词汇发展带来新的变化。从词汇研究的角度看借形赋义,可以对我们进一步研究同音和多义问题带来一些新的启示。

Using existing words to express new meanings is the so-called ＂new wine in old bottles＂, it is the most unique semantic expansion mode in contemporary Chinese. It can be divided into two kinds of rhetorical and non--rhetorical, the former include homophone, metaphor, distortion, metonymy, euphemism and implicit form; the latter includes introduc- tion, abbreviation and change the usage. The phenomenon of using existing words to express new meanings reflects the rich variety of language psychology in contemporary, the psychology mainly includes using familiar words, pursuing the change, analogy and play; it leads to homonym and polysemy relations between the new and old semantics. From the per- spective of vocabulary development, using existing words to express new meanings has actually become an important way in the development of contemporary Chinese vocabulary, it injected new content for the contemporary Chinese vocabulary, and also brought new change for contemporary vocabulary development. From the perspective of vocabulary research to view using existing words to express new meanings, we can get some new enlightenment for further studying the homo- nym and polysemy problem.
