Mou Zi's Understanding of Buddhism ; the status of Lao Tze; relationship theory about Taoism
《弘明集》首篇《牟子理惑论》中出现的老子,有三种形式,一是称引《老子》中的话语,二是称述老子名氏和著述以代表其学说,三是讲到老子的外在形象。在称引《老子》话语的内容上,其中有关于老子"道"、"无为"思想的借用,来解说佛教存在的价值;还有从道家生命哲学及生死观的角度,说明佛老的相通及其与道教养生术的差别。从《牟子理惑论》本身来看,道家老子的学说在其中就成为既值得继续弘扬,又可以与外来传入的佛教共存,当然也还有儒家孔子所代表的思想学说,三教共存乃至三教合一就成为其突出的主题思想。

《홍명집》수편《모자리혹론》중출현적노자,유삼충형식,일시칭인《노자》중적화어,이시칭술노자명씨화저술이대표기학설,삼시강도노자적외재형상。재칭인《노자》화어적내용상,기중유관우노자"도"、"무위"사상적차용,래해설불교존재적개치;환유종도가생명철학급생사관적각도,설명불로적상통급기여도교양생술적차별。종《모자리혹론》본신래간,도가노자적학설재기중취성위기치득계속홍양,우가이여외래전입적불교공존,당연야환유유가공자소대표적사상학설,삼교공존내지삼교합일취성위기돌출적주제사상。
Lao Tze presented in Mou Zi's Understanding of Buddhism, the first part of Hung-ruing Ji, saw itsappearance in three different forms, including the quotations from Lao-zi, statement about the name and the worksof Lao Tze on his doctrine, and finally, the image of Lao Tze. The idea of "Taoism" and "inaction" quoted fromLao-zi effectively demonstrates the value of Buddhism. From the perspective of life philosophy and the view of lifeand death in Taoism, there explains the common themes between Buddhism and Taoism by Lao Tze, as well thedifference between those two and Taoism health. In terms of Mou Zi's Understanding of Buddhism, the theory ofLao Tze is such a great doctrine that it coexists with Buddhism and Confucianism, which has been energeticallycarried forward. Thus, the coexistence, even the combination of these three religions turns out to be the mainthought of Mou Zi's Understanding of Buddhism.
