Mr. Tu Youguang, a Chinese philosopher, educator, and calligrapher, was contented in poverty and devoted to things spiritual. He contributed greatly to the establishment of limitless source of the Chinese spiritual culture. In the aspect of character, he insisted in living the simple life, and the unity of knowledge and action. In the aspect of action, he was unhurried and confident, and never contented with his achievements. In the aspect of learning, he had a thorough knowledge of both the West and the East, and created a philosophy of his own. In the aspect of teaching, he insisted in "rhetoric for sincerity", and paid attention to enlightenment and inspiration. His character, action, learning, and teaching, became quaternity, which consisted of his holistic personality, accomplished his brilliant life, and also made him a real master in our times. The followers could follow his thought, making our Chinese pedagogy become strong.
