马克思恩格斯工农联盟的基本思想包括无产阶级的革命斗争需要农民阶级支持，农民阶级的解放需要无产阶级领导，他们二者的共同诉求是工农联盟建立的基础，无产阶级代表农民阶级的利益是建立工农联盟的必要条件等。在坚持马克思恩格斯工农联盟思想基本观点的基础上，毛泽东根据中国实际对农民在革命斗争中的角色进行了新的定位，指出农民阶级是中国革命的主力军，并深化了对农民阶级内部不同阶层革命性的分析，强调在革命斗争的过程中要代表和实现农民阶级的利益，在中国革命的实践中发展了马克思恩格斯关于工农联盟的思想。

The essentials of Marx and Engels＇s worker-peasant alliance thought include the following aspects： the proletarian revolution needs the support of peasantry; at the same time, the liberation of peasants requires the leadership of the proletariat.The basis of the establishment of the worker-peasant alliance is the common requirement and the necessary condition for the establishment of the worker- peasant alliance is the proletariat representing the benefit of the peasantry. While sticking to the basic views of Marx and Engels＇s worker-peasant alliance thought in terms of the establishment goals, basis and conditions, Mao Zedong redefined the role of the peasantry in the revolution in accordance with the reality of China as the main force of Chinese revolution, made further analysis on the revolution of different stratums of the peasantry to represent and realize the benefit of the peasantry in the course of revolu- tion, and finally developed the worker-peasant alliance thought with Chinese characteristics ,which is the first successful practice of the worker-peasant alliance thought of Marx and Engels in the revolution led by the proletariat.
