明初方外诗坛的生态，与洪武朝的佛教政策的变迁休戚相关。洪武前期，明太祖对佛教主要采取尊崇、怀柔的策略，很多有影响的诗文僧都出入掖庭，广泛参与国家事务，甚至与明太祖赓诗唱和；而洪武中后期则逐渐转为整顿、抑制为主，一些诗文僧或惨遭流放，或罹“文字狱”，或坐“胡党案”，丛林一时噤若寒蝉。此种丛林生态，深刻地影响着明初诗文僧的创作，他们一方面以“善世”、“遍应”等庄严佛曲歌赞新朝，另一方面则曲晦地表现出畏祸的心态。
명초방외시단적생태，여홍무조적불교정책적변천휴척상관。홍무전기，명태조대불교주요채취존숭、부유적책략，흔다유영향적시문승도출입액정，엄범삼여국가사무，심지여명태조갱시창화；이홍무중후기칙축점전위정돈、억제위주，일사시문승혹참조류방，혹리“문자옥”，혹좌“호당안”，총림일시금약한선。차충총림생태，심각지영향착명초시문승적창작，타문일방면이“선세”、“편응”등장엄불곡가찬신조，령일방면칙곡회지표현출외화적심태。
The ecology of monk poets＇circle in the early Ming Dynasty was closely related to the vicissitudes of Buddhist policies during Hongwu Period of Ming Dynasty.In the early stage of Hong-wu period,Taizu Ming （founder of Ming Dynasty）adopted revered and conciliatory policy to Bud-dhists,which made it possible for many influential monk poets to gain access to Yeting （house of con-cubines）,get actively involved in national affairs and even create and respond poems with Taizu Ming. However,in the middle and later stage of Hongwu period,Taizu turned to rectify and suppress Bud-dhists,and thus some monk poets were miserably subject to exile,or Literary Inquisition or Hu Party Case.Suddenly,the monks kept silent.That ecology of monk poets＇circle deeply affected their pro-duction of poems in the early Ming Dynasty.They,on the one hand,sang the praise of new dynasty with solemn Buddhist songs such as “Shanshi”or “Bianying”,on the other hand,implicitly expressed their fear of calamity.
