According to the Sloan Consortium Reports in 2014 and 2015, this study draws the distinguishing feature of American online higher education development in 2013-2014 on the basis of the keyword "grade change". The feature manifests in the aspects that the rate of colleges and universities whose long-term development strategy contains online higher education has increased, the annual growth rate of online students' enrollment and the retention rate has decreased, the popularity of MOOC and its role were ambiguous, the discipline in online higher education was under constrained, the effect of teaching became less effective.
