语言的象似性指人的经验结构在语言结构上的反映。语言的象似性普遍多样,主要分为拟象象似性和隐喻象似性两类。本文探讨了语言象似性的各种类型以及英汉互译的方法,目的使译文获得＂形神皆备＂的效果。翻译拟象象似性时,要在不违背译入语表达规范的同时,尽量传递出原文的音、形、意;翻译隐喻象似性时,要根据英汉隐喻中来源域和目标域共享的程度,分别采用直译、意译、直译加注、阐释等方法。

lconicity reveals the law governing cognition and linguistic structures, that is, the mapping of human experience on- to language, lconicity is of universality and variety, but primarily has two parts ： one is diagrammatical iconicity, and the other is metaphoric iconicity. This paper discusses the two parts and their translation from English to Chinese and vice versa in order that the translated texts convey both the form and the spirit of the original texts. The author believes that, in translating dia- grammatical iconicity, the sounds, forms and meanings conveyed in the original text should be expressed in the target text. As for metaphoric iconicity, the translator may use different methods to translate it in accordance with the extent to which English and Chinese share the source domains and target domains of metaphors.
