改革开放以来,历史知识大众化的特点和发展趋向表现在五个方面：从传媒变化看,出现了由单一印刷媒体向影视、网络等多媒体发展的趋向,从而改变了历史知识传播和文本构建的模式,并影响到民众对历史的认知;在书写者方面,出现了职业史家书写向公众书写发展的趋向,公众逐步成为历史知识大众化的主体;在目的性方面,出现从教育人向娱乐人转化的趋向,娱乐休闲逐步消解和取代了爱国主义等高尚意义的诉求;在学科建设上,从学科附庸向学科独立发展,中国本土的通俗史学与西方的公众史学相遇,加快了学科建设的探索;在作品评价上,从学界内部向全民参与发展,历史知识大众化的成果不断变成＂公共话题＂,出现全民热议的情况。

Since the Reform and Opening-up, the characteristics and the development trend of the popularization of historical knowledge could be outlined as follows： from the perspective of media, there is the transformation from the sole printing media to multimedia like film and television; from the perspective of writers, there appears the change from professional historian writing to mass writing; from the perspective of purpose, there is the shift from education to entertainment; from the perspective of discipline construction, there is the development trend from discipline dependency to discipline independence; from the perspective of works appraisal, there is the development trend from academia to the public.
