As the new curriculum reform, junior high school chemical teachers how to use textbooks effectively, innovative teaching, let the students can master knowledge efficiently, it is a problem of many chemical teachers have to faced. Through analyzed teaching function of illustrations in the ninth grade chemistry textbook, combined with the students' cognitive char-acteristics, the article discussed and studied how to make use of the textbook illustrations to improve the instructional quality of grade nine chemistry.
