By coupling the discrete unit with finite elements,the paper develops the test model for digging resistance time-history simulation of bucket wheel reclaimer.Considering material features,bucket shape,water content and other factors,the simulation analysis is performed on the material-taking process to get the time-varying history curve for the dig-ging and cutting resistance.The paper also presents three phases of material-taking resistance and the material filling state. The time-history curve of each drag component is consistent with related test results,and the simulated bucket volume and resistance coefficient agree with the design.The study outcome provides valuable information for dynamic analysis and fa-tigue life prediction of the bucket wheel reclaimer.
