The RCS of target faced by the early warning aircraft is getting smaller and smaller.It is re-quired to augment the power-aperture product for gaining the adequate detection range.It is the most effica-cious way to enlarge the antenna aperture when the power provided by the aircraft is limited.However,the antenna aperture of AEW radar is limited by the outline of the radome as well as the overall aerodynamic con-figuration of the aircraft.On the one hand,it is demanded to choose the overall aerodynamic configuration of the aircraft reasonably and to optimize the outline of the radome and make an effective use.On the other hand,it is demanded to design the overall layout of the equipment of antenna system precisely,so as to ensure the antenna aperture indexes.The related issues about the aerodynamic shape choice of radome and the overall structral design of AEW radar are discussed.
