Coast-ship bistatic surface-wave over-the-horizon radar is a bistatic multiple input and single/multiple output radar which uses a coast-located large scale antenna array to transmit and a ship-carried an-tenna to receive.This radar transmits multiple mutually orthogonal signals simultaneously via multiple an-tennas and synthesizes at the receiver to form transmit beam pattern.This paper offers an overview of the operating principle and main characteristics of this radar and calculates its power coverage.Some key tech-niques,such as the time-frequency synchronization technique at a moving platform,the suppression of direct wave and the suppression of ionospheric clutter and radio-frequency interference are analyzed.The primary experiment system of this radar and its experiment results are introduced.
