魏晋南北朝时期，丧礼的变礼主要体现在对正常礼制的权变处理或低于正常礼制。丧服方面，为二母服丧以及东关故事的沿袭都表现为对正常礼制的权变，废乐制度，得到了不同程度的执行。葬仪中的变礼则表现在不按正常礼仪殡殓、不按既定葬礼规格埋葬、不按应有规格进行赠谥等方面，政治斗争失败者的丧礼尤其如此。社会动荡和缘情制礼是这段历史时期丧礼变礼流行的主要动因。

The unconventional rituals in the funeral system of the Wei, Jin, and Southern&Northern Dynasties are a set of funeral practices or expedients dependent on conditions or occurrences different from or below normal cere-monial conditions.In the matter of mourning garments, specific clothing arrangements in mourning for one’ s de-ceased mother or mother-in-law as well as the inheritance of the Dong Guan traditions all reflected the changing of the normal funeral system.With regard to the mourning manners, abolition of funeral music was carried out to var-ying degrees.The unconventional funeral rituals were observed differing from normal traditions in the following as-pects:the deceased was not placed in a coffin as gracefully as it used to be, not buried in accordance with due fu-neral standard, and not presented posthumous honors according to the decedent’ s status.Such downgrading funeral practices were especially bestowed upon those victimized by political struggles .Social turbulence and transformative social rites and rituals were the main reasons that may account for the prevalence of such unconventional funeral rit -uals during this historical period.
