“楚雄八景”是对楚雄八种景物的描述，在明清旧方志中，记载着不少有关楚雄州府“八景”的诗。大部分诗是对当时自然景物与人文景观的描写，但这些诗包含着丰富的时代思想，反映了当时人们的思想观念甚至是价值观。另外，这些诗还有诸多的“意象”，让人感受到楚雄鲜活的历史面貌，诗中蕴含着人文主题。读了这些诗后，对楚雄有了新的理解和感受，并加深了明清时期知识分子眼中的“楚雄印象”。
“초웅팔경”시대초웅팔충경물적묘술，재명청구방지중，기재착불소유관초웅주부“팔경”적시。대부분시시대당시자연경물여인문경관적묘사，단저사시포함착봉부적시대사상，반영료당시인문적사상관념심지시개치관。령외，저사시환유제다적“의상”，양인감수도초웅선활적역사면모，시중온함착인문주제。독료저사시후，대초웅유료신적리해화감수，병가심료명청시기지식분자안중적“초웅인상”。
“Chuxiong Eight Sights”is the general description of eight scenic spots of Chuxiong. There are many“Eight Sights”poems in Chuxiong prefecture in old local records of Ming and Qing Dynasties,in which most poems described the natural and cultural landscapes at that time and contained a wealth of thoughts and reflected people’s ideas and values at that time. What is more,there are a lot of“images”in these poems to help get to know the vivid historical appearance of Xhuxiong and its humanistic theme. Reading these poems can help to have a new understanding and feeling and get to know the“Chuxiong impression”in the eyes of the intellectuals in the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
