The oral historical materials have some features such as the reliable and direct sources, the popular and easy-to-understand languages, and the rich and stereoscopic contents, etc. The opium disaster in Sichuan in the Republican period had brought the serious harm to the society at that time, through the oral historical materials of event participants or listeners, people can better understand the historic reality and pernicious effects on the people at that time.
