Based on the current situation of the discipline competition in ship and ocean engi‐neering specialty of Guangdong Ocean University ,this essay explores the benefits of the aca‐demic competitions for the ship and ocean engineering students ,analyzes the general prob‐lems existing in the academic competitions of colleges ,attempts to find effective methods of developing the discipline competition for ship and ocean engineering specialty to promote tal‐ents innovation .
