The amount of SF 6 gas leakage from the partial discharge ( PD) coupler will directly affect the long-term safe and stable operation of the gas insulated substation ( GIS) equipment .Thus, an in-situ leakage detection method for the PD coupler and a calculation method of the allowed leakage value are introduced , which are successfully adopted in a hydropower station .It is also recommended to establish accurate and standardized criteria on the SF 6 gas leakage detec-tion method and allowed leakage value .
