The reason and mechanism of surface modification of nanometer calcium carbonate ( abbreviated to nano-CaCO3 ) were synthesized, and the local chemical modification, surface coating modification, capsule modifi-cation, high energy surface modification and machinery modification were briefly introduced in this paper. The prob-lems occurred in nano-CaCO3 surface modification technologies are analyzed and the development trends are put for-ward.
