书院制度确立于宋代。就宋人自身对书院的理解而言,书院具有接纳与纪念等功能,两者俱反映出南宋书院复兴运动背景下书院有别于官学的补充性、灵活性等特点,体现私学精神,也反映了宋代书院发展的轨迹和宋人对书院接受的过程。两者本身密切的内在联系,诠释了宋人对书院概念的定位与理解。

Academy system was established in Song dynasty.As for the people’s perception of ancient acade-my in Song dynasty,ancient academy had functions of acceptance and commemoration which reflected its compen-sating and flexibility features that were different from public school under the context of the renaissance movement of ancient academy in the Southern Song Dynasty;the two functions of ancient academy also represented private school spirit,which also reflected the trace of ancient academy’s development in Song Dynasty and the process of people’s acceptance of the ancient academy during the time.The two are closely internally related,illustrating people’s definition and understanding of ancient academy in Song dynasty.
