Diesel exhaust contains large quantities of pollutants which cause great threat to the environmental and human health. The exhaust emission control technologies innovate rapidly with the improvement of the diesel emission standards. Mainly aiming at the particulate contamination in the diesel exhaust, the paper reviews the outside control technologies of diesel engine exhaust particulates. The advantages and disadvantages of each technology and applicable conditions in engineering practices are compared.
