?威尼斯商人?作为莎士比亚的喜剧作品，其喜剧性却丝毫未在男主角安东尼奥身上有所体现，剧中安东尼奥对巴萨尼奥的同性爱恋，因其违背自然和社会规则，无法被社会认可，从而必须向其妥协并以悲剧结尾，引起观众的怜悯与恐惧，符合悲剧特征，因此该剧被称为悲喜剧更为合适。

Even though The Merchant of Venice is regarded as Shakespeare’s comedy,it is not embodied in the hero Antonio.His homosexual love to Bassanio cannot be accepted by society because it violates nature and social rules,so it must compromise to society and end by tragedy.It arouses the pity and fear of audiences,which is suitable to the characteristic of tragedy.Therefore,it is more appropriate to rank The Merchant of Venice a tragicomedy.
