Trauma patients often suffer from different degrees of hypoalbuminemia. The use of human albu-min (HA) in trauma treatment is the subject of ongoing debate. Generally, there are two scenarios where HA may be administered:acutely fluid resuscitation and nutritional support to correct hypoalbuminemia. Recent investigations, in-cluding large-scale randomized trials and meta-analyses, have sought to determine the safety and efficacy of HA. This review examines the current evidence for and against the use of albumin in trauma patients, and investigate the applica-tion value of HA in the treatment of trauma patients.
