Gelatin is a kind of natural high molecular weight material, which has unique physical and chemical properties and biological performances such as biocompatibility, processibility and biodegradability. Its potential applications require further development. In this paper, the applications and present research situation of gelatin in biomedical material are summarized, such as hemostatic material, blood substitutes, substitute material, carrier material, modifying other biomedical material and so on. And its development prospect is also forecast. This review can provide a reference for related researchers in the biomedical field.
