The traditional method for synthesis of diethyl carbonate has more or less deficiencies in synthetic process and economy. The synthesis of diethyl carbonate from urea and alcohol is a new synthetic process. The raw materials are facile and low-cost, the preparation process is clean, the product is easy to separate, which can effectively reduce the cost of production and environmental cost. So the method is a green chemical process.
