关于羌绣的起源，是目前国内羌学界较有争议的问题，“广义”与“狭义”之说各执一词。相关历史文献与考古发现可以证明，古代羌人不仅种植棉花的历史悠久，纺织与刺绣的历史同样古老，其有实物可考的历史年代均远早于汉代。
