“东南有天子气”缘起于楚地流传甚广的谶言“楚虽三户，亡秦必楚”。它与楚人强烈的反秦情绪以及秦对东南地区等楚地的控制相对薄弱有着重要关联，“亡人”、“群盗”乃至小规模叛乱的频现皆其表征。“东南有天子气”引起了秦帝国统治者的极大关切和焦虑。秦始皇亲巡楚地，企图以破坏“天子气”的厌胜方式，震慑不服其统治的楚人，然而，此举却更加刺激了楚人的反秦情绪，加速了秦帝国的灭亡。

“동남유천자기”연기우초지류전심엄적참언“초수삼호，망진필초”。타여초인강렬적반진정서이급진대동남지구등초지적공제상대박약유착중요관련，“망인”、“군도”내지소규모반란적빈현개기표정。“동남유천자기”인기료진제국통치자적겁대관절화초필。진시황친순초지，기도이파배“천자기”적염성방식，진섭불복기통치적초인，연이，차거각경가자격료초인적반진정서，가속료진제국적멸망。
the origination of〝the aura of son of heaven in the southeast〝should be traced back to the widely spread proph-ecy in Chu region which called〝even if Chu has only three households left,the one finally overthrow Qin empire must be Chu〝.It had a significant relationship with strong resentments of Chu people against Qin empire,and the weak control of southeast area.〝Escaped criminals〝,〝cluster of robbers〝 and even some small scaled rebellions were all evidences of the unstable situation.〝The aura of son of heaven in the southeast〝 triggered great concern and anxiety of the rulers of Qin empire.Emperor Qin Shihuang made an inspection tour of the Chu region to deter Chu people who did not obey his rule by exorcising〝the aura of son of heaven〝.But it just stimulated the resentments against of Chu people and accelerated the fall of Qin empire.
