The paper briefly introduces the effect of strain test on design of shrink ring, states the principle of strain test method and strain gauge, strain test procedure and the question in test process, and introduces the strain test procedure, result and error analysis of shrink ring in the process of HP barrel type cylinder hydrostatic pressure test. The result shows that it's an important mean of verifying shrink ring structure design, strain tests play an important role in the shrink ring safety assessment.
