A machine designed for spreading the fresh tea leaves in green tea processing was evaluated for the application, as well as its freshness keeping effect on the leaves. By using the piece of equipment, fresh tea leaves could be kept 12 h or longer maintaining a quality better than the traditional way of handling. Additional advantages offered by the machine included space-saving, ease in environmental control, automatic leaves loading and unloading, and a streamlined operation.
