The characteristics of the solid acid catalyst is high temperature resistant, mild reaction conditions, good selectivity, treatment after the reaction is simple, less pollution to the environment, can be repeated use, has good benefit of environmental friendly reagent. The research of solid acid in the last century got the development of the system, the research results were emerging, some results were applied to the production practice, the important role of the play. The developments of kinds of solid acid catalyst, such as molecular sieve, oxide, were reviewed. The preparation application and modification were mainly introduced. Development trends in this field were also talked about.
