This paper discusses the topics of the subjective modality semanteme and the methodo-logical thinking of the frame construction“shu?X (yě)buX”.1)The construction has four kinds of subjective modality semantemes.They are the topic hypothesis,euphemistic negation,slight transi-tion and mild dispute,which is proven through their related follow-up sentences.2)The variable X, generally speaking,includes qualitative monosyllabic adjectives,psychological verbs and adjective nouns,however,which does not include general verbs and nouns.3)The variants “shu?X1 (yě)buX 1,shu?X2 (yě)bu X 2”reveals three semantic tendencies:the semantic focus of “bu X2”,“buX1”,or between “buX2”and “bu X1 ”.4)It provides us a methodological perspective to probe into the sense of subjective modality of the frame construction.
