在中国传统翻译理论中,二元对立理论最早体现在佛经翻译中的文与质、美与信之间的对立.这些二元中的元素一般直接对应我们讨论较多的直译与意译,本文从翻译理论的角度出发,运用语言学中纽马克的语义翻译和交际翻译的理论来阐释翻译理论中的二元论.

In Chinese traditional translation theory, binary conception appeared in translation of Buddhist scriptures for the first time, making Wen (literary) and Zhi (qualitative), gracefulness and faithfulness opposite. The components in binary theory general-ly correspond literal translation and free translation. With the help of Newmark's semantic translation and communicative transla-tion, the author tries to explain binary conception in translation theory.
