The characteristics of coal in different coal forming ages were introduced, how the different coal forming periods and coal forming environments affected the caking property and coking property of coking coal was analyzed.For coking coal from some areas, the difference of coal quality and difference of coking property was explained, and the impact of internal coal quality factors on coking property was further summarized qualitatively, meanwhile, the main factor affecting the coking property and caking property was the metamorphic degree of coal, and the influence of coal forming environment on coking property and caking property should not to be neglected as well.
