为了解冻融循环对土工织物膨润土垫(GCL)材料中膨润土膨胀性的影响,通过室内试验研究了不同冻融循环次数下 GCL 材料中膨润土粒径分布及其膨胀指数的变化规律,分析了两者间内在联系,并阐述了膨胀指数变化的微观机理。试验结果表明:随着冻融循环次数的增加,膨胀指数先迅速增加至峰值后再略微下降并趋于平稳,粒径分布则趋于集中;10次以内冻融循环对GCL 材料中膨润土膨胀指数影响较大。提出了主导粒径的概念,认为膨胀指数主要由属于主导粒径的颗粒决定,并给出了主导粒径与膨胀指数间的量化关系。

To analyze the influence of the freeze-thaw cycles on swelling of bentonite in geosynthetic clay liner (GCL),the variation of particle size distribution and the swell index of bentonite in GCL after different freeze-thaw cycles and their correlation were studied through laboratory experiments. The microscopic mechanism about the change of the swell index was demonstrated.The experimen-tal results indicate that the swell index first increases rapidly to a peak value and then slightly decrea-ses to a steady figure with the increase of the number of freeze-thaw cycles,which finally leads to the centralization of particle size distribution.The freeze-thaw cycles within 10 times have relatively greater influence on the swell index of bentonite in GCL.The concept of dominant particle size is put forward to characterize those particles which dominate the swell index of bentonite.The quantita-tive relationship between the dominant particle size and the swell index is also given.
