In this paper,the species and characteristics of organic compounds in influent of reverse osmosis system were summarized. Effects of membrane surface properties,solution chemistry,operating conditions and organic fouling properties on pollution process of typical organic foulants such as humic acid,protein,polysaccharide and fatty acid,and the possible fouling mechanisms were reviewed. Finally,the control methods of organic fouling of reverse osmosis membrane are proposed.
