As a low-power water purification technology,forward osmosis (FO)utilizing osmotic pressure difference for driving force has attracted widely attention at home and abroad. The principle of FO was introduced and research status of two key factors,such as draw solution and FO membrane were summarized in this paper. Finally,the latest research progress about the application fields of FO were introduced.
