Failure Free Operating Period (FFOP)was connected with Maintenance Free Operating Period (MFOP) compactly towards the repairable product. The failure event of the arm should be modeled with inhomogeneous Poisson process,whose failure rate function is shaped like a bathtub curve. Firstly,the concept and the technology developing course of FFOP are introduced. Then,the FFOP prediction process is developed by the bathtub shaped failure rate function which is modeled based on modified Weibull distribution function. The accuracy of method is verified through case. Furthermore,the relationship between FFOP and maintenance strategy based on MFOP is illustrated. FFOP should be decided by weighing up reliability/safety and maintenance cost.
