On the basis of contractive linguistic research method, this paper aims to make a comparison between English and Chinese from the perspective of hypotaxis and parataxis, and deeply analyses their lingual differences and cultural roots. According to their grammars and thinking modes, this paper analyses the role of hypotaxis and parataxis in English and Chinese translation.
