糖尿病作为一种慢性非传染性疾病，目前呈现“发病率高；知晓率低，高致病、致残率，低控制达标率；医疗负担沉重”等突出特点。良好的医患沟通在糖尿病管理中可发挥重要作用。在和谐的医患关系基础上，重点构建长程、系统的诊治模式，将人文关怀贯穿疾病管理的始终。良好的医患沟通是践行“以患者为中心”的医疗模式的重要基础，可最大程度延缓急、慢性并发症的发生、发展，减轻医疗负担，改善患者生活质量，提高预期寿命。
