Lead-carbon battery is a novel lead-acid battery obtaining long cycle life under high-rate partial-state-of-charge condition, and its advantage in performance relies on the carbon materials added in negative active mass of lead-acid battery. The progress of the development of carbon materials used in lead-acid batteries has been reviewed, and their mechanism, structural property and negative effect have been discussed in this work.
