In harmonised common structural rules (CSR-H), the requirements of the hull girder strength and local hull strength under the harbour condition are almost the same as those in the current common structural rules for oil tankers (CSR-OT), but with the signiifcant modiifcation from those in the current common structural rules for bulk carriers (CSR-BC). By comparison between the different requirements under harbour condition for CSR-H and CSR-BC, it presents the impact of harbour condition on bulk carrier combined with data from typical existing bulk carriers. It also discusses the determination of the reasonable permissible still water bending moments and the shear forces of hull girder for the bulk carriers complied with CSR-H.
