Response surface methodology(RSM)was used to optimize the experimental conditions for ultrasonic-assisted ex-traction of total flavonoids from Moringa oleifera leaves. First, the effect of solid-to-liquid ratio, extraction time, extraction temperature, and extraction power on the extraction yield of total flavonoids were investigated using single factor experiment. Based on the results, the experimental conditions were optimized using a four-variable, three-level Box-Behnken experimental design, and the optimum conditions for the extraction were obtained as follows: 1:35(g/mL)for the solid-to-liquid ratio, 40 min for the extraction time, 52℃ for the extraction temperature, and 210 W for the extraction power. Under the optimum condi-tions, the predicted and actual yields of total flavonoids were 5.082% and 5.17%. The model developed by RSM was adequate to describe the relationships between the factors and the response values..
