Mr. Pan Maoyuan has deep background of History of Education. He make a great achievement in research fields such as educationists, education thoughts, and modern higher education history. Mr. Pan can be called as an educational historian. In the study of theories and history of higher education, Mr. Pan insists principles of “theory coming from history”,“the past serving the pre-sent”,“seeking truth from facts” and “history manifested by theory”. These principles reflect the basic connotation and main characteristics of his historical thought of higher education. Mr. Pan offers “three sources” of educational theories and historical views of higher education research. He said,“historical view is the most basic way to macroscopically grasp the nature, function and law of higher education.”“The past serving the present” as educational history research guidance Mr. Pan advocates forms his outstanding practical characteristics and research style of seeking truth from facts. He achieves great in educational history research by fully applying Marxism education philosophy,basic theories of higher e-ducation and logic theory.
