近代唐山是京东商业大埠，历来有“小天津”之称，远近商贾竞相到唐山市区开设商店客栈。20世纪30年代以后，唐山市区商业中心由铁道北向铁道南转移，形成小山商业中心。同时，农村集镇商业也很发达，滦州开平、稻地、倴城、榛子镇4大镇及迁安建昌营镇是京东名镇。近代乐亭商人闯关东，形成了实力雄厚的“老呔”商帮，对繁荣东北经济和建设家乡作出了很大贡献。

근대당산시경동상업대부，력래유“소천진”지칭，원근상가경상도당산시구개설상점객잔。20세기30년대이후，당산시구상업중심유철도북향철도남전이，형성소산상업중심。동시，농촌집진상업야흔발체，란주개평、도지、분성、진자진4대진급천안건창영진시경동명진。근대악정상인틈관동，형성료실력웅후적“로태”상방，대번영동북경제화건설가향작출료흔대공헌。
In modern China,Tangshan ,a big commercial city,has always been known as “Small Tian-jin”,and merchants have come to Tangshan City to start their business.After 1930s,the commercial center of Tangshan expanded to the south and north of the railway in the city,and Small Hill business center came into existence.At the same time,business also developed fast in rural towns,such as Lu-anzhou Kaiping,Daodi,Nencheng,Zhenzizheng and Jianchangying of Qian’an.In modern times,many merchants in Laoting migrated to Northeast China,and formed a powerful Laotan business association, which made great contribution to the prosperity of Northeast China and the construction of Tangshan .
