楚庄王是春秋时期的一位贤明君主，经历不同史学家的记录，其形象逐渐发生变化，《左传》中他是“礼”的模范，《史记》中他则是“义”的楷模。其形象由“重礼”到“尚义”的演变，一方面与史学家的史学观念、价值取向有关，另一方面则反映了时代主流文化的变迁，同时折射出现实社会人们精神文化中的不足，而这正是典范之所以存在的原因。
초장왕시춘추시기적일위현명군주，경력불동사학가적기록，기형상축점발생변화，《좌전》중타시“례”적모범，《사기》중타칙시“의”적해모。기형상유“중례”도“상의”적연변，일방면여사학가적사학관념、개치취향유관，령일방면칙반영료시대주류문화적변천，동시절사출현실사회인문정신문화중적불족，이저정시전범지소이존재적원인。
King Zhuang of Chu was a great emperor in the Spring and Autumn Period. Experienced the different records by dif?ferent historians, his image had been changed. In the book of Zuo Zhuan, he is a model of“propriety”, but in Historical Records, he is a model of“righteousness”. The evolution of his image has two reasons. On the one hand, it’ s related to the concept of histori?ography and their value orientations. On the other hand, it reflected the changes of the culture of the times. At the same time, it also reflected the reality in people’ s spiritual culture in the society, which was the cause of the model.
