The Biography of Astronomical Officials in Historical Records is the earliest encyclopedia in astronomy handed down from ancient China and it created the official histories style of astronomy. Under the influence of it, the later Biography of Astronomi?cal Officials records astronomy, while the Biography of the five elements records calamities and abnormal phenomena. Meanwhile, it has a great impact on the compilation of encyclopedias of past ages.
