Reactive power optimization can increase voltage quality of power system, reduce loss and assure safe and economic operation for the system. In the article, it introduced the research status of reactive power optimization method, it used immune genetic algorithm to do reactive power optimization, set up IGA mathematical model for power system reactive optimization, and did IGA simu-lation for IEEE30 node system, verified the advantages of the algorithm.
